A rough drawing I did to warm up today. My time at the NFB is coming to a close. I'll be back in Toronto on the Wednesday and I think it'll be nice to be back there. It's got my cat and family and friends and a lot of heating. Been feeling chilly in Montreal.

I've been pretty busy lately. I'm at the NFB in a program called Hothouse to make me a Director. I'll have more on that and the final film in 3 weeks! Because the deadline is in 2 weeks!

Vampire sketch

Warm up sketch for today here at the NFB/ONF. It's pretty cool being back here in Montreal. I'm making my own film and getting mentorship in editting sound and animatics, directing, animation and anything I want to ask. If you can check out the Hothouse program through the NFB. It's only available to Canadians with few exceptions. But it's better to try than to not know.

Summer is just wheeling by!

Summer is almost over and this is my first september not going to school! Crazy! But then again I was in school a lot. So it's a good change.

Ghost Boy Sketch

Here's a sketch I did to warm up for today. The subject was Ghost Boy so I may a magic hoodie that you can see his bones through and give him ghost powers. I'm not sure which ones though. More on this later maybe.

Demented Soothsayer Sketch

A sketch done for Character Design Rush on Facebook. It was done with Sketchbook Pro. I really like the pencil tool in it. I'm currently getting used to the paint brushes and making custom brushes with it. Hopefully I'll be able to fully switch from PS because it's a lot heavier on my computer.

Sailor Moon Ink

Swampy WIP-Line

Here is the latest of Swampy. It's all lined and there is a rough colour ready but it's all weird. Gonna refine it before a post up here. This is turning out nicely. I feel taking the process by steps is really helping. Can't wait to see what final colours look like.

Swamp Witch WIP-Sketch

Here's a Swamp Witch that I'm working on to break down my process. I'm trying to figure out things that I need to improve speed and quality. So I'll go through each step more thoughtfully on this one to see if there is something that I need to do to improve these elements of my drawings.

So far this is the Sketch. Next will be the Refine followed by the Clean, the Colour and finally the Lighting. Can't wait to see how this turns out and what I'm gonna learn!

 I was lent a copy of The Con recently and it came with a Making Of DVD. I'm a junkie of Making Of.. DVDs. I watched it and I found it really inspiring. It showed how long each song takes with repeated takes, different ideas, individual instruments being played and spending 7 hours to match up drums. I later followed up by watching some of their recent interviews. It took them well over 10 years to win Junos. It's really cool to know that it takes time and a lot of hard work to still get success. I get a little anxious when I'm not super successful right now. It feels like I'm not working hard enough. It was really relieving to hear how much time it's taken them to get where they are. So I'm gonna keep working and start my own 10+ years of working hard and see where that get's me. Also see their shows. They are little rascals that bicker with each other and it's really funny. I watched some vampire movies today with my sister and a friend. Then we looked at impossible colours (look up hyperbolic orange and stygion blue). So I wanted to get a sketch off before bed so why not Dracula? Movies watched were Queen of the Damned and Dracula 2000 Sketchbook Pro Steph
